This workshop explores practical, compassionate ways to support LGBTQIA+ clients, addressing challenges shaped by trauma, family dynamics, and societal prejudice. Participants will gain tools and insights to create affirming, culturally sensitive therapeutic spaces.
Workshop Highlights:
Identify common Schemas and Modes in LGBTQIA+ clients, including how minority stress and developmental trauma interact to shape survival strategies.
Map survival coping patterns that arise from both systemic oppression and direct relational trauma.
Apply Schema Therapy–informed strategies to address systemic and interpersonal trauma, integrating interventions such as imagery, chairwork, and mode work.
Combat political, social, and existential despair in therapy through creative, playful, and communal practices.
Integrate transformative justice principles, queer histories, and futurist imaginaries into trauma processing (e.g., Imagery Rescripting, Chairwork, Limited Reparenting).
Examine intersections of gender, sexuality, neurodivergence, disability, race, class, and migration and their impacts on mental health.
